today is my roomie's 30th birthday.
a year ago we didn't even know each other. now i can't imagine not being friends with her.
i had to undergo a rigorous interview process. that basically consisted of me falling head over heels in love with her dog.
our other roommate i'd known for years, but didn't hang out with very much, sadly.
they didn't want a girl roommate. and they didn't want "a ginger". both qualities which i possess. i can be very convincing when i want to be...
sometimes people come into your life at just the right time. not to be trite or corny, but living in my apt has taught me how to be fun again.
post script...
A bird came down the walk:
He did not know I saw;
He bit an angle-worm in halves
And ate the fellow, raw.
And then he drank a dew
From a convenient grass,
And then hopped sidewise to the wall
To let a beetle pass.
He glanced with rapid eyes
That hurried all abroad,--
They looked like frightened beads, I thought;
He stirred his velvet head
Like one in danger; cautious,
I offered him a crumb,
And he unrolled his feathers
And rowed him softer home
Than oars divide the ocean,
Too silver for a seam,
Or butterflies, off banks of noon,
Leap, splashless, as they swim.-e.e.d.
this one is for j.b.s.
happy dirty thirty girl!
love always,
xoxo mjm
