woodson.

get up kids. syracuse, ny. westcott community center.

tonight i'll be in chicago but my friends will be at the get up kids show in ny. they are one of those bands that are intrinsically tied to my teens/early 20's. if the movie of my life had a soundtrack, there would be at least a couple get up kids songs on it.

tattoo convention in worcester shannon and i went to during the dc sniper rampage. she tried to convince me to get the pilgrim hat from the road signs as a tattoo. "mass pike" on repeat. way home a car followed us forever. we freaked out and considered boston version of dc sniper.

"woodson" is driving along in erin's car, singing at the top of our lungs. i'm 18. she's 20. we're both single. going to shows. having fun. shopping at thrift stores for random stuff. (my brownie camera. my antique polaroid.) going up to baltimore to see dubin for halloween and making last minute costumes before the get up kids/mxpx show. another show at water street in rochester right after i move home from dc and right before she moves away to london.

almost glad i'm away this weekend. the last time i saw get up kids play was the best. drive with joel to buffalo. we are older than everyone there. comment on the college atmosphere. (dashboard headlined.) we go out separate ways til after the show. joel and i are so alike, yet so different.

casino niagara. joel is happy as a clam, since he looooovvees poker! don't see him for hours. my crew is gambling with leftover canadian money. jack daniels flows. we drunk dial amy at some point. (she's obsessed with their "amy" song. which is about a car, not a girl.)

the week before we'd all been at a riverboat casino in louisiana. same scenario, but with american bills. that weekend was amazing, but i look back on it with a bittersweet taste in my mouth. for so many reasons. salad days. things will never be that simple again.

drive home from canada. wired! hahaha. joel crashes and i put his ipod on the smiths. there are 80 songs, enough to get me through sunrise and back to the cuse.

(did i say i hate driving? sometimes it's the best!)
