long before i knew what industry i'd end up working in...
before i imagined there was a reason that i lamented mtv and vh1 taking the director credit from the corner of videos...
before figuring out that what i studied in school would really just be a jump off point for what i'd eventually study in life...
prior to all that i was just a girl who had an uncanny memory for and love of music videos.
the best, in my humble opinion, was for "true faith" by new order. the year was 1987. a lot of my favorite music was made in this year. a great vintage. fruitful growing season of sorts...
either my freshman or sophomore year of high school i purchased the record, vinyl, pictured above. had no idea of the new order/joy division connection. didn't know who the band was or anything about them.
looking back now i've figured out what drew me to this record. the cover art.
it looks like dozens of pictures i've taken on vacations. and, hopefully, hundreds more that i'll take in the future.
for j.a.b.
survivor.
post script...
"i've not got much to give
we're dealing in the limits
and we don't know who with
you may think that i'm out of hand
that i'm naive i'll understand
on this occasion it's not true
look at me i'm not you..."
